Roulette
A roulette wheel consists of a spinning disk with markings around the edges that rotate around the bottom of the bowl. The ball rotates around the outside of the bowl until the ball and wheel finally come to rest with the ball in one of the chambers. The divisions around the wheel are numbered 1 to 36 in a seemingly random pattern and alternate in red and black. Additionally, a green division with the number 0.
At American tables there is only an additional second green division marked 00, which makes the American version of roulette a financially worse deal than the European game. Before throwing the ball, people bet on which number will come up by placing chips on the betting mat. The exact position of the chips shows the bet placed. Roulette is a game of French origin and at the traditional table, French betting terms are still used in English-speaking countries. However, most American charts use English terms and a slightly different style of rugs.
